How Often Do I Have to Wear My Aligners?
For Invisalign® to be the most effective, you must wear your aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours a day. This way, your teeth will receive consistent pressure that will keep them shifting into the right places. With this time frame, you still have a few hours to take your aligners out to eat your favorite snack or take pictures for your school dance. It’s important to remember to put your aligners back in after you take them out, though, or your teeth may shift back into their original position, and your treatment could be delayed.

Invisalign® Teen consists of a series of clear aligners that are printed in a comfortable thermoplastic material that will fit snugly over your teen’s teeth. Every week, your teen will change into a new pair of aligners that will be slightly adjusted to gently push their teeth into position for their desired results. They are free to take their appliance out whenever it is convenient for them, such as when eating or during sports, but we highly recommend they wear their aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours every day for maximum results.
What Happens If My Teen Loses an Aligner?
We know that between lunch in the cafeteria and band practice, there are a lot of opportunities for an aligner or two to get lost in the shuffle. However, there’s no need to worry if you misplace your Invisalign®. As long as you contact our office as soon as you realize they’re missing, we can get you a replacement aligner or decide if they can wait until their next pair without any negative impact on their treatment progress.
